Calle del comercio
In Central América, El Salvador in
the department of Santa Ana the historic colonial center of the city which
protects with jealously a Street is located dating from the coffee epoch, It is known as Avenida Independencia.
This Street has undergone a diverse
modernization that is, it startied as a dusty Street until the asphalt Street
that we know today. The historic section of this Street goes from the Mariano Méndez
Street to Don Bosco Street.
The
transformation of the Street has taken decades to see the changes since the
modernization process has been slow but the benefits have been noticeable to
this day even if we do not find joornalistic documents that reinforce the
assumpsions of important events in the city.
The Street has been an important
axis of commerce for the city since it accelerated the population growth
besides, Sonsonate city was divided into two by the legislative authorities
creating the department of Santa Ana between the years 1852 and 1854.
The growth of Santa Ana led to found stores,
pharmacies, and a marked in the center of the city, right on the land where the
theater of the city is located and the main products that were sold were
cereals and sweet since this city is identified by traditional candies.
Calle del
comercio changed to be called as Av. Independencia and this is how the people
of the city call it, there are very few people who know their old name of the
coffee season and remember their process of modernization that still follows
and that the features of the historical events that marked the santanecos
people are under thick layer of asphalt but still tell us the same origins of
Santa Ana the Great.
